The Sacrament of Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation (along with Baptism and the Eucharist). While it is the end of initiation, confirmation is never really meant to be an ending but the start of something new. It is a kind of personal Pentecost, a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our hearts that makes us doers of the Word of God, not hearers only.
Our primary goal at St. Thomas More is to partner with parents and assist families in their faith journey. We follow the Catechism guidelines in outlining our program to “lead toward a more intimate union with Christ…an awakened sense of belonging to the Church and parish communities…a focus on more intense prayer and familiarity with the Holy Spirit.” CCC 1309
Family living, celebrating within the liturgical year, and participating in the parish are essential for teens to meet the catechism objectives.
If you are a teen that has not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, but wish to do so and are currently in 10th-12th grade, please contact the religious education office at 847-888-4887.
