Members of St. Thomas More parish
participated in the Rockford Pro-Life Rally
March For Life held on January 21.
We thank them for their participation.
Pray that the governor’s heart and mind are convicted of the truth of what abortion is and does to a human being. Pray that voters will hold accountable those lawmakers who voted to once again expand abortion in Illinois. Pray that the evil agenda of abortion cheerleaders would be exposed for all to see.
Just when you think Illinois couldn’t do more for Big Abortion Inc. than it already has, Illinois Democrats passed a Planned Parenthood “wish list” on the last day of the lame duck session. On Tuesday afternoon, January 10th, the Illinois Senate passed HB 4664 by a vote of 41 to 16.
During the floor debate in the Illinois Senate, Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) read Psalm 139:13-16 aloud in the chamber. It fell on deaf ears. Six other Republican lawmakers rose to challenge the bill, and four of them closed their comments with an appropriate appeal: “God help us.” Watch the 48-minute debate on the IFI YouTube channel HERE.
HB 4664 was then sent to the Illinois House where it passed late at night by a vote of 70 to 39.

While we hold that all life is sacred, we are also all-too aware that psychological, emotional and even physical illness — as well as extreme anxiety, fear, and abuse — can lead individuals to take their own lives. Speaking to this, the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults reflects, “Although suicide is always objectively sinful, one should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives” (pg. 294). The text also states the reality of illness or other extreme influences can “diminish the responsibility of one committing suicide” (pg. 293).
Parishes and grief support groups should show special care and concern for those families that have lost a loved one to suicide. And, communities should always try to be mindful of those who might be at risk of suicide or self-harm. ©LPi
Please pray for all those affected by suicide.
Dear Friends of the LiFE Office,
The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade and has supported Mississippi's law that bans most abortions after the baby reaches 15 weeks!

Abortion will now be regulated by the states. This is a major victory for all humans because all life is sacred.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in prayer, fasting, and advocacy.
In celebrating this major step forward, let us not grow complacent as we continue to work toward our ultimate goal: a Culture of Life that protects and supports human life at all stages.
Each state will now be empowered to fully protect life before birth and also protect millions of women from the tragic consequences of abortion. We know you will join us in (1) upholding the value of human life from fertilization to natural death, (2) bringing compassionate support to mothers, fathers, children, and families in difficult situations, and (3) encouraging our elected officials in Illinois to protect all life, including that of the preborn.
“In the end, my immaculate heart will triumph.” -- Our Lady of Fatima

The Rosebud Program helps a church identify, pray for, and support those who are pregnant, celebrating birth or adoption, grieving miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, infant or child death, and waiting to become pregnant or adopt. Prayers for grandparent concerns, and troubled times are also included.
Each rosebud color has a special meaning and has a coordinating tag and prayer card. The tag has a place for families to write information about a particular situation for which prayer is being requested. Rosebuds are displayed as a reminder to pray daily for the families represented.
The Rosebuds will be located in our Gathering Space.
Each Monday night at 7:00PM the Rosebuds will be brought into church and their intentions will be offered during a Rosary for all life. All are welcome to pray.
The names of those asking for prayers will also be shared each week with our Flocknote Prayer Warriors Group. If you would like to pray for these special intentions you can join our Pray Warriors .
